We spent the day at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo yesterday. It is one of my favorite things about living in this city. I remember how moving my first visit was years ago. The building isn’t air-conditioned in the summer and not heated in the winter but it’s perfect for the rainy, free afternoon. And like everywhere in Egypt since the revolution there was almost no one there. The best things to see are the Royal Mummies and the Papyrology room, plus the New Kingdom hall. Sadly, no photos allowed of the inside but there are a few fun pieces outside, and the building is enchanting, if an odd color.
